TweetThis hotel is a well known icon in Southern California, but its reputation didn't translate to search engine marketing. While the local area knew the Sunset Marquis as THE destination for the elite to escape, the outside world had little experience with the hotel. They needed to optimize their online presence and increase their online market share. GCommerce was tasked to do just that, increase online visibility and optimize the hotel's search engine marketing initiatives.

Technology used to evolve at a rate that redefined reality for every generation. Today, technology evolves at a rate that redefines reality every day. The era of isolationism has come to an end, and the world of tomorrow can be seen today.
Popular culture has given us plenty of examples of this future world: the 1939 World’s Fair, Disney’s Tomorrowland, The Jetsons, 1984, Minority Report and more. When first presented, all of these examples seemed like outlandish dreams for an unattainable reality. But with today’s technology, the dreams for tomorrow have their genesis today.
The origins of the exponential growth of modern technology can most easily be traced back to the beginnings of the popular internet as we know it in the 1980s. Sure, without all of the inventions that came before, we never would have arrived at the internet. But until the 1980s man was still able to exist as an island if he so chose. Now, with the internet acting as the great connector, the purveyor of information and the facilitator of relationships, the sea between individuals has been bridged.
Web 2.0 forced society’s hand, isolate or integrate? And while there are still some who are wrestling with the practicality of using a blog, Facebook, Twitter, Foursquare and other social media sites as marketing tools; a new development is requiring yet another massive shift in reality. The introduction of the smartphones and tablets now enable us to access the capabilities of the internet anywhere and at anytime. The internet is now able to fill holes in our daily lives; who is near me, where should I eat, where is the best deal near me, where should I stay? The line dividing the real world and the virtual world has blurred. The beginnings of “Augmented Reality” are here.To view the entire post Click Here
One of the more exciting developments in mobile marketing is the ability to use QR Codes to enhance a consumer’s experience and improve conversion. A QR code (meaning Quick Response) is a barcode set up in a matrix that can then be photographed by smart phones and used to provide information to the user.
Imagine riding a commuter train in New York City and seeing a QR code on an ad for Dunkin’ Donuts offering a coupon you can redeem at your next stop. You then scan the QR code with your phone and it captures a coupon to redeem for a free donut with the purchase of a cup of coffee. Today in the US and W. Europe, 90 percent of mobile subscribers have an Internet-ready phone [Source: mobithinking.com]. This is a great way to start a conversation and communicate information and specials to your guests.
If you have not stepped into mobile yet, now is the time to create a mobile marketing strategy. If you are already doing text marketing and have a mobile site (or even if you aren’t), QR Codes are a great tie-in to enhance your current mobile strategy.
