Mark van Hartesvelt

Chief cook and bottle washer,

Mark is a founding partner of GCommerce, a digital marketing company serving the hospitality, travel and resort real estate industries. The company currently serves more than 100 hotel clients in the United States, Italy, Costa Rica and Mexico. In 2010, the company expanded into Europe with the formation of GCommerce Italy.

A 30-year hotel veteran, Mark is recognized as an industry leader and innovator in marketing and operations in the hotel, resort, casino and real estate industries. He is a former adjunct professor at Boston University and the University of Denver. He co-authored one of the hotel industry’s classic textbooks and is a frequent speaker at industry conferences on future trends, marketing and revenue optimization and operations. He is a current and past board member of a number of public and private corporations.

Mark was a co-founder of Gemstone Hotels & Resorts, a boutique management company specializing in independent, luxury hotels and resorts, where he served as co-managing partner from 1994 until 2008. Gemstone grew to be ranked one of the top 20 management companies in the U.S., opening or completely repositioning such well-known properties as the Hotel ZaZa in Dallas and Houston, the Mosaic Hotel in Beverly Hills, the Hotel Sax in Chicago and Westward Look Resort in Tucson.

Scott van Hartesvelt formed GCommerce in 2002 and quickly grew the company to over 20 team members and 100+ clients worldwide. Under his leadership GCommerce has become a premier digital marketing firm in the travel vertical. Over the past 9 years, Scott has emerged as a sought after voice for those looking to challenge digital marketing norms and generate premium online revenues. Scott spends his time focused on ensuring each and every GCommerce client exceeds their online revenue goals. In addition, Scott focuses on bringing new marketing practices and programs into the GCommerce offering and expanding the business to new corners of the globe. When not working, he enjoys spending time with his daughter Laila and wife Monica.

Chris Jackson

Vice President,

Chris was one of the original members of GCommerce when the company was formed nearly nine years ago and brings more than 20 years of experience in the Hospitality and Travel industries. Prior to joining GCommerce, Chris was the General Manager of a number of independent hotels and resorts and has a great understanding of all facets of operating a successful hotel. He is a recognized digital marketing strategist with skills in online branding and positioning, search marketing, website development, email marketing, social media marketing, eCRM and revenue management. He is often invited to speak at industry conferences, such as MLIS, Bitac, Casino Fest and the Costa Rican Congress.

Chris’ primary role at GCommerce is to oversee operations and the strategic direction for its clients as the Vice President and Acting Director of Sales.

Chris is a graduate of the University of Florida and is a member of their advisory board for the Warrington College of Business Entrepreneurial Learning Studies, working with students in the use of digital marketing for their startup companies. He lives in Park City, Utah with his wife and new baby boy.

Denise Cooper

Director of Marketing,

Denise leads the GCommerce marketing team with more than 30 years of experience in marketing and sales. As the creators of the GCommerce Innovation Lab, Denise and her team are constantly testing new marketing strategies and techniques to create incremental revenue for hotel and travel industry clients. Denise’s focus includes strategic marketing, social media, online media buys, reputation management and mobile strategies.

Before GCommerce, Denise was a founding member of Wasatch Solutions Group, a marketing and sales consulting firm working with clients such as Sony, Sento Corporation, Discovery Gateway and CNS Community Hospice.

Earlier in her career, as an AT&T executive, Denise led relationships with some of AT&T’s largest enterprise customers. Her most recent position there was Western Region Division Manager for AT&T Solutions. Here she led a team of people supporting the managed services needs of Global 1000 companies. She also worked with the Salt Lake Olympic Committee and the Olympic Operations Team at AT&T for several years preparing for the 2002 Winter Olympic Games. Denise has been a speaker at numerous executive events including AT&T's Business Success through Information Technology Seminar with attendees from the Fortune 500. She served as the Chairman of the Utah Board of Junior Achievement and held various other positions on the board over a ten year period. Denise graduated from Iowa State University with degrees in Business and Marketing. She received her MBA from Drake University.

Denise lives in Park City with her husband and two sons and enjoys skiing and running.

Lindley Ferris

Director of Account Services,

As the head of the Account Management department, Lindley oversees the development and execution of each client’s digital marketing strategy. Lindley’s primary role is to ensure GCommerce fulfills our promise to deliver results that matter. Lindley and her team conceptualize and manage the implementation of each client’s unique strategy. Lindley began her career with GCommerce in 2007 as a paid search marketing specialist. She has grown with the company spending extensive time within the various departments of GCommerce including Search Engine Marketing, Strategic Marketing and Account Services.

Originally from New York, Lindley graduated from Syracuse University with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology. During her studies, she developed a passion for both environmental studies and the Chinese language which inspired her to move to China after graduation. Lindley moved to the northeast region of China and taught English as a second language to college students at Baicheng Normal College. Upon return, she moved west and has enjoyed making her home in Park City.

Will Ferris

Director of Search Marketing,

Will started with GCommerce Solutions in 2006, completing various project work for business development. He quickly found a passion for Search Marketing, and lead the project development for GCommerce’s largest paid search account. Today, Will develops cutting edge search techniques and frequently challenges his team to innovate on behalf of our clients.

Will believes not all search marketing is created equal, and that many competitors service clients to the lowest common denominator. In contrast, Will and his team of strategists develop unique approaches to help clients achieve their revenue goals. Every client is unique and cookie cutter solutions rarely work.


Will earned his B.A. in Political Science at Hobart College in Geneva, New York. Upon graduation, Will was given a grant to study Humanitarian Law at Oresund University in Lund, Sweden. Will is an avid Yankees fan, enjoys trying new recipes, and spends his Sunday afternoons on Utah’s best golf courses.
